Join CRISPAZ for its 25th anniversary delegation, Nov. 16-20

Christians for Peace in El Salvador will culminate its 25th anniversary (1984-2009) with a special November delegation. This pilgrimage is timed to coincide with the 20th commemoration of the martyrdom of the six Jesuits and Elba and Celina Ramos at the University of Central America.

This delegation, open to all, will kick off with a Mass and remembrance of the six Jesuits Nov. 16 at the UCA. It will also include stops at sites associated with Archbishop Romero in anticipation of the 30th anniversary of his martyrdon next year as well as the site of the martyrdom of the four North American church women in 1980. We will also visit the Wall of Memory and Truth in San Salvador’s Cuscatlan Park to reflect on the deaths of nearly 80,000 people over the course of El Salvador’s 12-year civil war.

All of these sites are intricately involved with the 25-year history of CRISPAZ. There will also be presentations on the current state of affairs in El Salvador ranging from the challenges facing the new Funes administration, the Central American Free Trade Agreement and the current financial recession as well as the ongoing crisis with youth and gangs. Participants will also visit a site associated with CRISPAZ’s rural accompaniment program in which CIRSPAZ is helping poor women form agriculturally-based micro businesses.

The heart and soul of what we do at CRISPAZ is providing transformational delegation experiences for North Americans and Europeans in the Holy Land of El Salvador. This will be a great way for folks who have been to El Salvador in the past to see how our approach to delegations, while remaining the same in many ways, has changed to address the new realities in El Salvador.

Approximate costs for this delegation are $800 plus airfare. The $800 fee includes all ground transportation, airport and hotel transfers, all meals, lodging and admission fees for all stops associated with the anniversary delegation.
